1. TIVOLI PARK & JAKOPIC PROMENADE

2. ROZNIK HILL

If you’re feeling energetic, you can continue from Tivoli Park up Roznik Hill to Canker Peak, a local tavern where you can enjoy homemade apple strudel.

3. MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

Rotating and permanent exhibitions of contemporary and modern art. Guided tours available.

4. TOZD

Stroll along the river to the TOZD bar and exhibition space decorated with countless carefully-selected details and furnishings available for purchase. There is also a library based on the bring-and-take principle: visitors can take away a book, but in exchange they have to leave one of their own at the library.

5. CASTLE HILL

Easily reached by cable car or about a 10-minute walk, Ljubljana Castle is the biggest and most visited castle in the city. Built in the 15th century, it offers an outstanding view over the city, a cafe, art exhibitions, and a shop with traditional handicrafts. Guided tours of the castle are conducted daily. Visit the History Museum or climb to the top of Piper’s Tower for the ultimate view over the city and river, with the mountains rising up in the background.

6. FOOD MARKET

On Fridays, the Open Kitchen Food Market is a must. You’ll find it at the Ljubljana Market stalls and will be able to sample various delicacies prepared by talented Slovenian chefs from local restaurants. On Saturday mornings, the same area hosts a large colorful and vibrant market offering everything from fresh produce and homemade food items to household wares and souvenirs.Slovenian cuisine is a wonderful mix of influences from eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, and German/Austrian.
