For those seeking outdoor adventures, an abundance of wildlife, and unique beauty, New Zealand is a must-visit destination. The country’s north and south islands both offer a travel experience you won’t soon forget. Incredible scenery, culture, and opportunities to enjoy nature abound.
We focus our New Zealand hiking tours on the South Island—a place where you’ll encounter both a sparkling seaside and awe-inspiring mountainside, often during a single walk. Long, rewarding hikes lead to yawning valleys and dramatic rocky shores brimming with wildlife, from Kaikoura and Arthur’s Pass to Lake Moeraki, with nothing less than the South Island’s soaring alpine landscapes to explore in between.
Join us for a legendary “tramp”—that’s the local word for a hike—on our Alpine and Coastal adventure tour through the best of the South Island. You’ll follow mountain-ringed footpaths, seaside walkways, and rainforest routes as you make your way from east to west across this magnificent landscape. During your adventures, we’ll explore the world-famous Abel Tasman National Park in a section of one of New Zealand’s Great Walks, and the Marlborough wine region. You’ll also learn about Maori culture, encounter a little Lord of the Rings magic, and catch the buzz of the adrenaline-fueled town of Queenstown.
A great travel experience in New Zealand isn’t only about hikes through description-defying natural beauty, opportunities to observe wildlife, wine tasting, and interactions with local farmers and artisans (although there will be plenty of that). It’s also about the details. Throughout your hiking trip, your local guide’s insider perspectives provide authentic insight into the communities and sites you visit. Your fellow travelers are a part of your experience, too. Our small group tours deliver fast friendships, and you’ll never feel part of a crowd.
Every unforgettable New Zealand vacation is punctuated by incredible food and accommodations. Much of the food and wine you’ll enjoy on your trip are a part of your tour package, chosen to enhance your sense of place. Where you lay your head at night is a part of your trip, too. We’ve curated each fine resort, wilderness lodge, and hotel for their ambiance and hospitality.
Reserve your New Zealand adventure tour soon—we limit our South Pacific tours to smaller groups than most tour group operators, and spots often fill months in advance.
